White Light, Stage Technologies and Production Arts host open day

at one of the most technically complex shows in the West End.

White Light are constantly looking at ways of introducing new equipment and techniques to the rest of the industry. As part of this initiative we recently co-hosted an open day at the Prince Edward Theatre in London with Cameron Mackintosh, Stage Technologies and Production Arts. The invited guests included many theatre consultants and production mangers as well as a large number of overseas guests who had been in London for the PLASA Show

The day included introductions from the various companies involved and a technical introduction to the show. This was followed by a tour of the innovative technical aspects of the show with experts in each area discussing lighting control, sound, automation, projection, and radio controlled scenery. After a buffet lunch, there was an opportunity to see the equipment in action during the matinee performance.

The open day was a great success with many people surprised at the technology employed in today's major musicals. It also showed how the main technical companies involved in theatre productions are working closely with the producers and each other to create the new and exiting effects that are required.
