Once again enjoying a prominent position just inside the main entrance to Earl's Court, the White Light Group enjoyed a hugely successful PLASA '98. Group member Enliten, specialists in architectural lighting projects, also attracted a great deal of attention with their themed, outdoor stand across the aisle from the main White Light stand.

A highlight of the show for many visitors was White Light's popular on-stand bar, returning for the third successive year but this time featuring a specially-created White Light beer. Such was the popularity of this item that stocks were exhausted half way through the final day!

Away from the bar, visitors got to experiment with a range of equipment from the White Light and Moving Light Company hire stocks, and were introduced to the new FX/DMX Remote Unit for White Light's popular VSFX effect system, already in use on the UK tour of Oliver!. At the same time, White Light employees were busy scouring the show for interesting new products to add to their comprehensive range. One deal completed during the show saw White Light appointed as a Main Dealer for products from City Theatrical Inc, the respected accessories manufacturer from New York. This product range includes the new EFX Plus 2 effect system for the ETC Source Four.

Just a few weeks after PLASA '98, this new deal proved immensely useful when White Light were selected as the lighting suppliers to the new American musical Jackie at the Queens Theatre; lighting designer Peter Kaczorowski's rig is based around the Source Four profile, with most of the units fitted with top hats or half top-hats to hide the lenses from view. These were all supplied from City Theatrical's comprehensive range.

A number of other new shows have ensured that there has been no rest for White Light's staff or equipment since PLASA '98, with rigs going out to Amadeus at the Old Vic, Alarms & Excursions at the Gielgud, The Invention of Love at the Haymarket, Fame at the Prince of Wales and West Side Story at the Prince Edward amongst many other projects.
