White Light Celebrate Another Successful Year - and Expand Their Hire Stock Yet Again!
PLASA 98 sees White Light (Electrics), the UKs leading suppliers of entertainment lighting equipment, celebrating another successful year of growth. In the past twelve months, their equipment has been used on the hit new West End shows Doctor Dolittle, Saturday Night Fever, Chicago, Rent, tours including Smokey Joes Cafe Jesus Christ Superstar, Oliver!, Les Miserables and Grease , and countless other productions of all sizes and styles. And their busy sales department has supplied equipment to productions as far afield as Australia and Nigeria, as well as servicing their hire customers and other theatres throughout the UK.
As ever, new productions demand new equipment and White Lights hire stock continues to grow. The company are delighted to be one of the launch customers of ETCs European 72-way Sensor touring dimmer rack, continuing the long association with ETC which allowed White Light to be one of the first to offer the 240V Source Four a few years ago, and the first to supply an Obsession 2 in the UK last year. The new racks, offering the advanced functions and proven reliability of Sensor in a touring form, seem certain to be popular.
Also new to the hire stock are two new ranges of followspots from Robert Juliat - the 2.5K tungsten Foxies, and the 700W MSR Pixies. White Light have already supplied Foxies to the BBC, and Pixies are in use on the new UK tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.
On the control front, White Light will be adding the Strand 510 rack-mount lighting console to stock followings its launch at PLASA 98, with one of the first systems going out to the UK tour of Oliver! to serve as a backup to their 530 console. They already have a complete range of Strand 500-series consoles available, as well as ETC Obsessions and Expressions and other consoles of all shapes and sizes. For moving light users, White Light have added the new Jands Echelon to their stock of Whole Hog IIs and Jands Hogs.
White Lights hire customers now extend far beyond the boundaries of theatre, and for those working in the exhibition and trade-show field exhibition-quality chrome Source Fours are now available alongside the conventional Source Fours. Adapter tubes allowing Source Four lenses to be used with VSFX animation disks, as previewed at PLASA 97, are also now available.
Up-to-the-minute information about the latest additions to the hire stock - as well as details of older equipment, still available for those who need to match lanterns to their existing house rigs - is available on the White Light Web site. Those who prefer to work from paper should call for a copy of our current hire catalogue.
