White Light at PLASA '99: New Tools (and the ever-popular Bar!)
New stencils, new Resource Pack and a new DMX test tool amongst the items launched on the White Light Stand (F4) at PLASA '99
White Light at PLASA '98 |
The PLASA Show returns to Earls Court from 5th-8th September this year - and White Light return once again to their familiar location on stand F4, just inside the main doors of the exhibition hall.
New products on the stand will include a number of new tools for those working in the lighting industry. First amongst these are the brand new White Light Lighting Stencils, designed in association with specialist CAD bureau Modelbox and featuring symbols for the latest lanterns as well as some old favourites. Two stencils cover conventional lighting equipment at 1:25 and 1:50 scales, while a third features a wide array of automated lighting equipment at both 1:25 and 1:50. For those who have made the move to CAD-based design, the symbols will also available in electronic form on the White Light web site, www.whitelight.ltd.uk from the start of the PLASA Show. The new stencils can also be found inside the new White Light Resource Pack, launched as part of White Light's popular Training Initiative. Aimed at students and others starting out in lighting, the Resource Pack contains drawing pens, colour swatch books, fact sheets and software samples as well as the stencils and a copy of the latest White Light Hire Catalogue - also being launched at PLASA '99 - all housed in a convenient carry-bag. Once a rig has been designed, it has to be made to work - which these days usually involves DMX and the occasional glitches that involves. The DMX Widget is a new test tool designed to allow DMX systems to be tested and DMX problems to be solved. Most DMX testers have cramped screens and a minimal number of keys, making them hard to operate. The DMX Widget utilises the power of the Psion Series 3 range of hand-held computers to give a clear display that can show up to 100 dimmer levels at once as well as a full keyboard that makes the system very easy to operate. The DMX Widget is produced by HTS Lighting, who will also be showing their comprehensive range of smoke machines on the White Light stand. Also featured on the stand will be examples of the wide range of products available from White Light's hire stock (including ETC Source Fours, Source Four Pars and Strand SLs) as well as automated lighting from The Moving Light Company (including the new City Theatrical AutoYoke). Representatives from White Light's other companies, including White Light North, The Service Company, Modelbox, and Technical Insight will also be on the stand - as will the ever-popular bar with its stock of specially-brewed White Light beer! White Light's specialist architectural lighting division Enliten will be just around the corner, on stand F5. |
