White Light Win Royal Opera House Order
White Light and The Moving Light Company to supply automated lighting rig to the refurbished Royal Opera House
| White Light has won an order from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden to supply an automated lighting rig to the re-constructed theatre, due to open at the end of this year.
As part of their on-going search to find the moving light that best met their demanding requirements, Royal Opera House Theatre Consultant Mark White and members of the lighting department from the Royal Opera House visited White Light's stand at this year's ABTT Trade Show. There they were shown the new City Theatrical AutoYoke. The AutoYoke turns the popular ETC Source Four profile spotlight into a versatile yet theatrically-oriented moving light, adding pan, tilt, iris and focus functionality as well as colour changing through a colour scroller. The demonstration was carried out by Gary Fails from City Theatrical and Bryan Raven from White Light, and the Opera House team were impressed by the AutoYoke's smooth movement, accuracy, repeatability and silent operation - as well as its theatre-friendly beam quality and colour temperature. Two days later, the Royal Opera House placed an order for thirty AutoYokes with White Light. The AutoYokes will be delivered to the Royal Opera House in September. The rig will be installed and commissioned by The Moving Light Company, White Light's specialist automated lighting division. The Moving Light Company will add a further thirty AutoYokes to their hire stock at the same time. "We are delighted to have been chosen to supply the automated lighting rig for the Royal Opera House" comments Bryan Raven, White Light's General Manager. "We have always aimed to offer the widest range of moving light products, to satisfy the different demands of different shows. The AutoYoke is a welcome addition to this range as a theatre-style moving light; it should prove to be a highly versatile part of the lighting rig at the new Opera House and elsewhere". Royal Opera House Theatre Consultant Mark White said "we first saw the prototype City Theatrical AutoYoke at the LDI Show in Phoenix, and have been in close contact with them since to help fine tune their product. We are pleased to have placed the first order in Europe. The Moving Light Company are well placed to provide us with any service back-up we will require for this important addition to the Royal Opera House Lighting installation." |
