Canary Wharf Sparkles For The New Year-
Thanks To Enliten and White Light
Enliten and White Light install and program Dataflash strobes to help
Canary Wharf see in the New Year
Braving the Canary Wharf Winter Weather! |
London's tallest building will see in the New Year in spectacular style - thanks to Enliten and White Light.
The companies have joined forces to encircle the top of Canary Wharf in London's Docklands with 32 High End Dataflash high-powered strobes. From 4pm on December 31st, the strobes will run sequences at regular intervals, acting as a large-scale clock for London as it counts down to what many consider to be the true start of the new Millennium. The sequences will continue to build until a spectacular finale runs on the stroke of midnight. The project was suggested to the Canary Wharf management by Paul Simson of Enliten, following on from earlier projects which have seen the company light up and colour the building's famous pyramid-shaped top. The sequences were pre-programmed using the WYSIWYG facilities available at White Light's specialist automated lighting division, The Moving Light Company, and the Dataflash and the Strand 520i console used to control them were then installed at Canary Wharf in mid-December by White Light's Projects team. The team had to satisfy the stringent rigging specifications required by Canary Wharf, as well as working around those working in the offices that provided access to the gantries in which the strobes were positioned. The team also had to liase with the nearby London City Airport to ensure that pilots were warned about the latest additions to the tower's lighting - planes actually fly past the tower at or below the height of the strobes as they come in to land! |
