Over its twenty-eight year history, White Light has become, to many people, the entertainment lighting hire company in the UK. But White Light is more than just a great hire company: as the projects White Light's Sales Team have been involved in over recent months show, White Light is a great sales company, too!

These projects have included:
- the supply of a new lighting control system for the Churchill Theatre, Bromley. Chief electrician Chris Nichols faced the dilemma that half of the shows visiting his theatre wanted the familiar theatrical control offered by Strand’s 500-series consoles, the other half the moving-light control of the Whole Hog 2. White Light Sales have solved Nichols' dilemma by providing both: a Strand 520i and a Whole Hog 2, together with a Strand Shownet ethernet network that can carry DMX data from either console around the theatre as well as providing video outputs in the production desk, control room, prompt corner and fly floor. Visiting shows can chose the control system - or combination of systems - that best fit their needs.

- the supply of twenty Rainbow Pro 15" and forty Rainbow Pro 8" scrollers to the English National Opera at the London Coliseum for their Italian Operas season. White Light supplied some of the earliest Rainbow scrollers to M. Butterfly and Miss Saigon in 1988/89, and are delighted to have been appointed dealers for the current Rainbow range.

- the supply of forty City Theatrical AutoYokes, twenty fitted with new gobo rotator/changers, and ten Arri 5K fresnels fitted to Licht Technik moving yokes to the Royal Opera House. These lanterns were supplied in conjunction with The Moving Light Company, and join the comprehensive automated rig supplied by White Light and The Moving Light Company for the venue’s re-opening last year.

- the supply of new dimming and control systems and lanterns to many venues in and around London, including the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre (Avo ART dimmers, ETC Expression 3x console, Strand SL profile spots); Victoria Palace Theatre (144 ETC SmartRack 2.5K and 36 SmartRack 5K dimmers); Lyric Hammersmith Studio (120 Strand LD90 dimmers, Strand 520i console) and the Royal Festival Hall (144 ETC Sensor dimmers, which join the three Strand 500-series consoles and the Strand Premiere architectural lighting system supplied by White Light Sales earlier in the year).

- the supply of new Strand 500-series control systems to productions around the world, including Les Miserables in Buenos Aires, and Pan in Sydney.

Many of these projects also involved other members of the White Light Group, particularly The Service Company for system installation, commissioning and support, and The Moving Light Company for the commissioning and support of automated lighting systems. White Light have now established a Projects team to co-ordinate the work of different Group members on projects - their brief, simply, to ensure that the job gets done!

The sales team have also made their first move into e-commerce: account customers can now buy DHA, Lee and GAM gobos online from the White Light web site or the new White Light Gobos Direct site at www.lxstore.com. Colour and other sales items will be available online soon. In the meantime, they can be ordered on the White Light Sales Hotline, 020 7348 6888.
