White Light Hire: A Busy Autumn - Again!
White Light's Hire Team busy through PLASA 00... and beyond
| Having enjoyed a busy summer season, supplying lighting rigs to shows ranging from the new hit Cameron Mackintosh musical The Witches of Eastwick to plays such as Baby Doll and The Graduate, White Light's hire team are pleased that they are being kept equally busy through the PLASA Show and into the autumn!
The PLASA Show period itself sees the autumn's two major new musicals entering their preview periods. White Light is supplying lighting rigs to both The Beautiful Game, the new musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton which is at the Cambridge Theatre and is lit by Jean Kalman, and Napoleon, a new musical playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre lit by Rick Fisher. Both shows also use automated lighting equipment from The Moving Light Company. The same period sees another of other new shows opening in the West End with rigs from White Light, these including Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a transfer from New York now at the Playhouse, Brief Encounter, an adaptation of the famous film at the Lyric, The Car Man, the latest dance production from AMP at the Old Vic, the return of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company to the Savoy with The Mikado and The Mystery of Charles Dickens starring Simon Callow at the Comedy Theatre. These shows join other shows using White Light rigs, including Art, Chicago, Notre Dame de Paris, Cooking with Elvis, Copenhagen, An Inspector Calls, Fosse and Pageant. The PLASA Show period also sees the return of a number of popular tours, once again choosing to take their lighting rigs from White Light. These tours include Grease (lighting by Mark Henderson) and An Inspector Calls (lighting by Rick Fisher) as well as a new production, Leader of the Pack. Longer running tours include the perennial favourite Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Millennium Musical and Ben Elton's Gasping. Even while supporting all of these shows, the Hire Team will be taking it in turns to pop down to PLASA '00 to meet old friends and new, and to make sure that they get to see the new products that people will be asking to hire over the next year!
