Theatre to Car Park, London to Moscow:
The Service Company At Your Service
| It has been another year of growth at The Service Company, the service, maintenance and support arm of The White Light Group - growth which has increasingly seen the company's work spread both beyond its traditional field of theatre, and beyond the United Kingdom.
The work beyond theatre has seen The Service Company responsible for the commissioning of a number of complex architectural lighting control systems, including that at the At Bristol 2000 public space on the roof of a car-park, and at the newly refurbished Somerset House on the north bank of the River Thames. The work beyond the UK has seen The Service Company making a number of visits to Russia: they are now responsible for maintaining the huge range of Strand Lighting equipment in that country. As part of this, The Service Company's Antony Bridges recently visited the Satire Theatre in Moscow to commission a new Strand EC90SV dimmer system, which joined the Strand Galaxy he commissioned there six years ago. Of course, The Service Company remains equally busy in the British theatre scene. As well as ongoing service and support contracts, recent projects have included support for the complex Strand control system used on The Witches of Eastwick at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the design of a new system that allows Strand and WholeHog consoles to share Ethernet cabling for DMX transmission at the Churchill Theatre Bromley, and the commissioning of a new dimmer installation at the Royal Festival Hall which will use ETC Sensor dimmers to control both the tungsten and cold-cathode elements of the houselight system. And as an independent service provider, The Service Company continues to be able to service or repair products from a huge range of manufacturers, including Strand, ETC, Wybron, Rainbow and The Smoke Factory.
