The Service Company:
Servicing Strand 500-Series Training Needs
The Service Company's Strand 500 training courses prove popular with London theatre crews

The Service CompanyTraining Initiative500 Training The Service Company, in conjunction with White Light’s Training Initiative, has recently completed a very successful series of half day training courses on Strand Lighting’s 500 Series of lighting consoles.

The courses were aimed at West End and freelance technicians and were held in White Light’s West End Office in Shaftesbury Avenue. The sessions looked at the basics of console set-up and operation, software, hardware and communications. The series of sessions concluded with a seminar on programming moving lights with the consoles, led by leading moving light programmer Rob Halliday. This offered both an explanation of the basic techniques for using the console in this way, and an insight into the various tricks and shortcuts that can make the process quicker and more efficient.

Demand for these courses was heavy: for those who couldn’t be accommodated, a further series of 500 Series training workshops are scheduled for March 2001. These will cover the basics of the consoles again, as well as looking at some of the advanced programming techniques associated with macros, effects, networking and system integration. Anyone seeking further information on these course, or wanting to book places on them, should contact White Light or The Service Company on 020 7731 3291 or by email to training@serviceco.com.

The 500 Series training is part of The Training Initiative, White Light’s wide-ranging education programme which aims to provide courses, resources and specialist training covering a wide range of lighting and lighting technology related subjects at every level. More information on the Training Initiative can be found at www.whitelighttraining.co.uk.
