White Light, specialist in lighting for corporate productions and events, recently lit a charity dinner for the Rugby Football Union at their Twickenham headquarters.

Held to raise money for the RFU's two nominated charities: SPIRE, the official RFU charity that assists players who have suffered permanent total disability through rugby, which is currently supporting around 115 ex-players, and Show Racism The Red Card (SRTRC), which aims to combat racism through education and the use of professional sports players as role models.

The Charity Gala Dinner at Twickenham featured a fund-raising auction, with all of the Zurich Premiership Rugby Clubs sending signed ruby shirts to be sold. The Dinner's attendance also included at least one player for each of these clubs.

White Light became involved with the Dinner through Richard Wilson, White Light's Business Development Director, who was pleased to be able to offer the magic of lighting to the RFU to make their evening a spectacular and memorable event. The rig for the evening, overseen by White Light's Jon Coventry, included twenty-four of White Light's Exhibition Uplighters, 26 ChromaQ ColorBlock LED fixtures, eight PAR cans, a Source Four followspot and a Zero88 XLS lighting console along with associated rigging, cabling, colour and control.

"We received lots of positive feedback from the guests," commented Sharon Moy-Taylor, the RFU"s Retail Operations Manager, "and are truly thankful for White Light"s input in making the even so special at extremely short notice." The evening was so successful that it raised over £25,000. The RFU's fundraising programme will now continue at the end of May, when 20 RFU volunteers will embark on an expedition to the base camp of Mount Everest where they will attempt to break the world record for the highest ever game of tag rugby. Sadly, White Light will not be along to help with that part!
